Dissemination of exposure treatment

Exposure-based treatments are the first line treatments for anxiety and related disorders. Yet, research consistently shows that exposure-based interventions are rarely utilized in routine care (e.g., see Pittig & Hoyer, 2017). For a long time, dissemination strategies focused on training therapist in evidence-based interventions. However, these training efforts were found to not suffice for a comprehensive transfer into routine care. Our lab examines dissemination barriers on multiple levels, such as systemic barriers, practicability, or therapists’ beliefs, to understand what strategies beside training of techniques may be useful to disseminate exposure therapy.
