Forschungsinteressen
Prof. Lynn Huestegge ist interessiert an der Flexibilität kognitiver Prozesse und Repräsentationen in Grundlagen- und Anwendungsbereichen. Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Bereiche Handlungskontrolle, Multitasking und cross-modale Verarbeitung. Weitere Schwerpunkte liegen auf visueller und sozialer Kognition. Dabei interessieren ihn die Prozesse von der visuellen Informationsaufnahme bis hin zur Steuerung unserer Blicke. Hierzu arbeitet er u.a. mit der Methode des Eye Trackings, also der räumlich und zeitlich hochaufgelösten Erfassung von Augenbewegungen. Eine wichtige Grundüberzeugung ist, dass mentale Verarbeitung nicht nach starren Mustern abläuft, sondern je nach Aufgabe und situativem Kontext sehr flexibel angepasst wird. Dies gilt für so unterschiedliche Bereiche wie Multitasking, Handlungskontrolle, Lesen, visuelle Suche, Verstehen wissenschaftlicher Grafiken, Automation und Verkehrspsychologie (s. Forschungsbereiche).
